First Time Printer Setup For HP Officejet 8610

If you are setting the printer for the first time, remove the packing and connect the power cable, set your preferences and load paper into the tray

  1. Remove the printer from the box and check for packing materials like tapes and stickers
  2. All the tapes and stickers should be removed especially materials inside the scanner lid
  3. The power cord connections should then be made by plugging one end to the rear of the printer and other end to the electrical outlet
  4. According to your preference, set your language, country and region. Also change the date and time and press yes to confirm
  5. The input tray should be opened and stack of paper can be loaded for printing. After inserting the paper close the input tray

  1. Open the access door and remove the tape on the ink cartridge. Do not touch any other place other than the black plastic on the ink cartridge

Installation Preparation

  1. You need network name, network password and computer connected to wireless network
  2. All the routers and computers should be switched on and the computer should be connected to the same wireless network as the printer.
  3. Disconnect any USB cable from the printer during the time of installation setup

Connect to a Wireless network

  1. Connect the printer and open the dashboard by swiping down. Touch the wireless icon and click the setup icon
  2. Now click the Wireless Settings and Wireless Setup Wizard. Touch the name of your network in the list of available networks and click Ok
  3. If your network name is not present in the list then click Enter New Network Name and follow the on-screen prompts

A compact drive with software comes with the printer package , which might not be up to date. That is why it is recommened to download the latest printer driver from 123.hp.com/ojpro8610 for installation.

The Wireless setup for HP Officejt Pro 8610 on Mac is similar to the windows Wireless Setup. Connect to a wireless network and install the driver software. Follow the below steps

Prepare for Installation

  1. Gather the network name, network password, a computer with a wireless network connection and a broadband internet access
  2. Check whether the router and computer are switched on and the computer is connected to network in which you have connected the printer
  3. Switch on the printer and bring it close to the computer and within the range of the router. Disconnect the USB or Ethernet cable from the printer during this procedure

Connect to wireless network

  1. In the control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard and then touch Wireless icon
  2. Click the Setup icon Wireless settingsà wireless Setup wizard. Check for the name of your network in the list of available networks and click OK
  3. Enter New Network Name and follow the prompts that appear on the screen. When prompted, type the WEP or WPA password and click Done

Follow the below instructions to troubleshoot the scanning error

1.Confirm if the issue is also HP Officejet Pro 8610 printing related

Check whether the cable is connected to the printer Ethernet port and to an available port on the router.

Restart the router, printer and computer if the green link is not steady and orang activity light is not blinking.

This is for wired connections. Continue to the next step if you have a connection issue when scanning only

2.Driver Restart and Driver scan settings

  • Switch of the computer, printer and unplug all the printer power cord setup.
  • Switch on the printer , computer and search Windows for your printer model and select the name of your printer
    • If HP Printer Assistant opens, click Scan a Document or Photo or Manage Scan to Computer, and check whether the check box is selected next to Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log onto Windows
    • If HP solution Center opens, click Scan Settings to view scan connection status, setting and preferences
    • If your printer name is not in results skip the steps and continue with installation of printer software
  • Scan if the error persists continue to next step

  • Check whether the printer is connected to your working network.
    For a wireless network connection, open the wireless network or Settings menu to check whether the wireless signal is turned on and Wireless icon light is on For a wired network connection, the cable should be connected to the printer Ethernet port and available port on the router. The green light should be steady and orange light should blink
  • Some HP printers do not support 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz that is operated by the router. The router should be enabled to 2.4 GHz router band. Connect the printer to 2.4 GHz band SSID if your router broadcasts separate SSIDs for each band Connect to the 5.0 GHz band SSID if the printer supports 5.0 GHz then hover over the network icon in the notification area to view the network name and connection status You must reconnect to your own network if the network connected is not yours Move your printer closer to the router, always keep away from devices that emit radio signals

Follow the steps to troubleshoot using the print and scan doctor. You can download it using your internet browser

  • Click Fix Scanning to review a list of issues and fixes in the Print and Scan Doctor display window
    • The printer passed the test if you see white checkmarks, the printer issue found and repaired means you will see a white wrench.
    • Otherwise you will see a yellow exclamation points or a red X icons. The former pints test failure and user action is required and the later points to follow the instructions that appear on the screen
  • Click Test scan or skip
    • The scanning software performs a test scan if you press Test Scan and follow the on-screen instruction
    • If you are not experiencing additional issues after clicking Skip, click Quit to exit
    • If you are still experiencing the scanning issue after clicking Skip, select Support and Troubleshooting for the support that comes with your scanner
    • You can also click HP Support Forum to get help from other HP customer or suggestion from people who had past experiences in this type of issues

5.Uninstall the software

In the Windows search for uninstall a program and click the Uninstall a Program in list of results

Select your HP printer name and click uninstall , follow the screen instruction to remove the software completely

Restart the computer and continue to the next step

Switch on the computer and disconnect the USB cable from the printer
