HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 Printer Scan

Use your HP OfficeJet Pro 6960 printer to scan documents, photos and more. One of the advantage is that you can also share the scanned files to any destinations. You can also edit the scanned documents using the HP printer software.

Select the scan location and you can scan to any destination such as a computer or a memory device. To scan a borderless original use the scanner glass instead of the ADF

Scan to computer

Check whether the scan to feature is enabled in your computer. To enable this feature in Windows, you have to open the printer software and click Scanàmanage scan to computer

To enable this feature in OS X, open  the HP Utility if you have installed the HP Scan.  Click Scan SettingsàScan to ComputeràEnable Scan to Computer

  1. Scan to the printer control panel

Load your original print-side down in the left-rear corner and touch Scanàcomputer in the scanner glass.  Touch Start Scan to scan and select the type of scan profile.

  1. Scan to the HP Printer software in Windows

You can load your original print-side down in the left-rear corner and open the printer software either in the scanner glass or ADF. Click Scan a Document of Photo under the Print, Scan & Fax. From the shortcut menu, select the scan type and click Scan. Select the Show Scan Preview to make adjustments to the scanned image in the preview screen

Click Save to keep the Scan application open or select Done to exit the application. Click Scan and select a scan shortcut. You can continue to print using your Scan application

  1. Scan from the HP Printer software in OS X

Open the HP scan from the Application/Hewlett-Packard folder at the top level of the hard disk. Select the scan profile type and follow the instructions that appear on the screen .

Scan to memory device

Use your HP software or computer to scan directly using the USB flash drive. Follow the below instructions and scan to the original memory device.

You can load your original print-side down in the left-rear corner or print-side up in the scanner glass or ADF. Insert the USB flash drive and touch Scan. Select the Memory Device. Touch Start Scan to modify changes to any other scan options.

Some of the basic scan operations are available in Web scan. If you want advanced scan options, you can scan from the HP printer software.

Load your original print-side down in the left-rear corner in the scanner glass or print-side up in the ADF. Open the embedded web server to enable the Web scan

Click Settings tab and navigate to the Security section. Click Administrator settingsà OK. Select WebscanàApplyàOK to enable Webscan.

Click Scan tab to modify any settings. Click Webscan and modify any settings. Click Start Scan.

Scan as an editable text

After scanning the documents, you can edit them with the help of HP printer software scan application. Use the HP printer software application to search, copy, paste, edit and many more editing options that you can use on your scanned documents. You can edit any documents such as letters and newspaper clippings.

• In Windows

Load your original print-side down in the left-rear corner in the scanner glass or print-side up in the automatic document feeder. Open the HP printer software, select Scan a Document or Photo in Print, Scan & Fax. Choose any type of editable text from the below given options.

  1. Select Save as Editable Text (OCR) and select Text(.txt) from the File type drop-down menu from the list if you want to extract the text without formatting the original
  2. Select Save as Editable Text(OCR) shortcut from the list and select Rich Text(.rtf) from the File Type drop-down menu, if you want to extract the text with some of the formatting options.
  3. Select Save as PDF shortcut from the list and select Searchable PDF(.pdf) from the File Type drop-down menu, if you want to extract the text and make it searchable in PDF reader.

• In OS X

Load your original print-side down in the left-rear corner in the scanner glass or print-side up in the ADF. Open HP Scan from the Applications/Hewlett-Packard folder in the hard disk. You can choose any one type of editable text from the below given options.

  1. Select TXT from the Format pop-up menu if you want to extract the text without formatting the original.
  2. Select RTF from the Format pop-up menu, if you want to extract the text with some of the formatting options.
  3. select Searchable PDF from the Format pop-up menu, If you want to extract the text and make it searchable in PDF readers
